Chicago 2016, the nation’s candidate city bid for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, needed help in a hurry to develop and produce a conference on the broad themes of sport and sustainability. Resolute answered the call, jumped in quickly, re-branded the conference as an international summit, and drove the process that resulted in a successful, substantive event. The Summit attracted national and international leaders in sport, business and the environment, who gathered for two days in September, 2009 to talk innovation and to identify specific initiatives that fulfilled Chicago 2016’s vision for the first Blue-Green Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Summit delegates focused on five topics—climate and carbon emissions; water conservation and access; resource recycling and reuse; habitat preservation; and sustainable Olympic legacy projects. Delegates also heard from former Prime Minister Tony Blair of the United Kingdom, who shared his vision for a more sustainable world and the important role the Olympic movement plays in a sustainable future.
Resolute Consulting managed site logistics, program development and media for the Summit, and played a central role in overall internal and external communications.
